PCYC Gym Renovation Storage

PCYC Lang Park is opening a new 24/7 contemporary gymnasium in their Suncorp Stadium home next month. The new facility will nearly double the size of their current gymnasium capacity. In addition to the build of the new gym is the relocation and renovation of different fitness and activity areas across this PCYC branch.

The gymnasium is moving from its current location on level 5 to new purposefully renovated area on level 3. The activities area is moving from level 3 to level 4, and the boxing area from level 4 to level 5. That is a lot of shifting, shuffling and moving of equipment.

With these renovations and rebuild upgrades comes the problem of storage … how do you relocate and store items, reduce the handling of equipment, and not impede on large-scale public events like the Foo Fighters concert (last week) and the upcoming Brisbane Roar v Melbourne City game?

The solution – after a word-of-mouth referral, PCYC contacted PODS to arrange secure, temporary, onsite container storage for the duration of their renovations.

Of particular importance to PCYC Lang Park was the need for secure storage of their Jeff Horne v Manny Pacquiao boxing ring. They didn’t want to be shifting the boxing ring from floor-to-floor; and they wanted it to be kept on the premises.

The 7.2m x 7.2m full-sized boxing ring fits into the large 16” PODS storage container, along with other items needing to be stored while renovations are completed. The flexibility of storage duration means that PCYC Lang Park can extend their storage period if the project runs over time.

In addition to PODS onsite renovation storage was the versatility of the Podzilla lift and delivery system. There are strict limitations on the size and weight of equipment and transport on the Plaza areas at either end of the Stadium. Podzilla provided the perfect low impact delivery solution for their storage container. The Podzilla hydraulic lift system is a low-weight unit, and it allows for easy movement and positioning of the container to a convenient storage location.

So, while the PODS container stores the Horne-Pacquiao boxing ring, it sits in very good company with The King of Lang Park, Wally Lewis.

If you think PODS could be an effective storage solution for an upcoming commercial renovation or construction project, call our National Sales Director, Paul Davern on 1800 467 637 for more information.
